Rautāpatu Foundation

Our Vision
A thriving, resilient Te Taiao with intergenerational impact.

Our Mission
To create and activate responses to the systemic challenges of our time.
We do this by nurturing and protecting Te Taiao through indigenous wisdom and interconnected thinking, grounded in whakapapa and relationships, to ensure wellbeing for future generations and climate resilience.

Grounded in Indigenous Wisdom and Practice,

we utilise Indigenous systems thinking to unlock significant challenges and opportunities, fostering community resilience and healing.

We are passionate about Te Taiao-centric circular systems (eco-centric) that create opportunities for both our people and the planet. By mobilising communities through relationships, culturally relevant education, training, mentoring, and impactful events, we strive to create a brighter future where

every individual and whānau can thrive.

Our work is guided by our Indigenous healing framework He Kawa Ora and

our Te Taiao Strategy our intergenerational plan- a living framework

for regenerating Te Taiao, our whanau (families) whenua (lands),

and our cultural identity. Our Strategy is the foundation of everything we do, embodying Indigenous wisdom, tikanga, and holistic pathways to a thriving, resilient future.

Our Trustees

Our Story

Our Foundation story began in 2022, but our charitable mahi and community & hapū development focus extends decades. Each of the Trustees shares a passion for hapūtanga, whakapapa, and strong intergenerational roots extending around Maunga Taranaki.

Professionally, the Trustees bring a wealth of talent, skills and experience to the governance table, including commitment to high trust relationships, transparency, accountability, and collaboration.

As visionaries, artists, writers, 'hands in the whenua' and 'whanau-first' people, we value our group ability to plan and navigate the poly-crises facing society with deep compassion. Our charitable focus enables us to think creatively & strategically to support transformative Taiao-centric and Circular systems change at whanau, hapū, and community levels.

The Co-Chairs, Bry and Glen established the foundation to provide a distinct charitable focus to their immense vision which includes leading a comprehensive Te Taiao Strategy, a regional Kai/Food Systems Strategy and activating a Circular Economy. Fundamentally the Foundation is committed to building resiliency in local communities and has developed a ground-breaking healing framework He Kawa Ora, a Hapū Toolkit, designing an Indigenous Founder Programme and running the inaugural
He Kāhui Mano: Tribal Summit activating a circular future 2024.

We cannot do this mahi alone and invite those with similar passion for change

to join our movement and make contact with us to explore ways

to collaborate or support this kaupapa.
