Day One | He Kāhui Mano
Tuesday 8th October 2024
Redefining Our Future

Our Day One aim is to provide a kaupapa Māori view of our development potential through a range of presentations from Aotearoa's most influential Māori scholars, practitioners, and entrepreneurs

Morning Session*-

We are thrilled to present Teina Boasa-Dean who is jumpstarting our day - providing the connection from our pre-Summit Circular Economy Masterclass. She will help us to 'Redefine Our Future' along with entrepreneur Brenda Tahi and Dr Shaun Awatere who will share transformative findings on tribal economies and Māori development, sharing elegant yet transformative kaupapa-led solutions that can enable Māori aspirations to be fully realised. * Please note: due to unforeseen whanau circumstances we ask for your understanding as we have had to change our morning session line-up due to Presenter health and availability.

Afternoon Accelerator Sessions

Join us in the afternoon for our 'Accelerator' Sessions, featuring daily reflections with Murray Hemi. These sessions, are small group wānanga, focussed on three Circular themes designed to deepen your understanding of initiatives centred on:

  1. Regenerating Taiao: He Kawa Ora: Foundations of Healing, Glen Skipper

  2. Circular Business: Designing an Indigenous Founder Programme for Kaupapa-led Enterprise and Circularity Bry Kopu

  3. Resource Recovery (Waste): Empowering Aotearoa communities in Zero Waste, Hollie Russell (Para Kore)

These three sessions will be run concurrently, and you will get the chance to choose two kaupapa that interests you.

Our hope is the Summit will help us to collectively answer the following pātai:

  • Can circularity align with our aspirations for cultural and social well-being and values as Māori?

  • A Means to an End... How does circularity stack up building a kaupapa-driven Tribal economy?

  • How do we unlock the economic potential of a Taiao-positive, circular economy?

  • What are the pros/cons of a Circular Economy?

This is a ZERO WASTE event.
