Presenter Profile - Dr Ganesh Nana

Dr. Ganesh Nana is a distinguished economist and thought leader known for his impactful contributions to the fields of economic development and public policy.

He earned his PhD from the Victoria University of Wellington and has dedicated his career to addressing complex economic challenges.

As the former Chief Economist at Business and Economic Research Limited (BERL) Ganesh strongly advocated for sustainable economic development, viewing economics through the lens of being kaitiaki o taonga.

He was a member of the 2018 Welfare Expert Advisory Group, and in 2021 he took up the Chair of the Productivity Commission Te Kōmihana Whai Hua o Aotearoa leveraging his expertise to advocate for equitable policy reforms.

Since the closure of the Commission in early 2024, Ganesh has taken up various voluntary roles, while also engaging a wide audience with analyses on pressing economic issues through his website https://ganeshnana.substack.com/
